Mtre Caroline Larouche (2009)
Mtre Larouche has a highly diversified academic and professional background. She received a Bachelor of Law degree and a Master’s in Molecular Biology and Law from the University of Sherbrooke and also has a Juris Doctor degree from Queens University.
After specializing in medical and professional liability in private practice with Bélanger Longtin LLP, she joined the Quebec Attorney General’s office as a litigator in 2012. Since 2017 she has been a Crown prosecutor in the gangs and organized crime unit for Quebec’s Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions in Montreal.
Mtre. Larouche has always been very active in Montreal’s legal community. In addition to being a director of the Young Bar of Montreal for 5 years, including a term as President in 2015-2016, she has volunteered on various Montreal Bar committees since 2011.
In 2016 she joined the Council of the Montreal Bar as its Secretary and since then has also acted as Councillor and First Councillor. She therefore brings a great deal of experience as she begins her year as Bâtonnière.
She has been acting as Bâtonnière de Montréal since May 8, 2024 after taking over from Mtre. David Ettedgui. Mtre. Larouche is the 159th person, the 9th woman and the very first Crown prosecutor to fill this position in the section’s history.
